Job duties of an X-Ray technician
- Be able to perform X-Ray imaging by operating X-Ray machine to capture images of patient’s internal structures as directed by Physicians.
- Be able to prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and answering questions and help them if they are nervous or uncomfortable.
- Must be able to accurately position patients to obtain the best possible images while minimizing discomfort and exposure to radiation
- Must be able to regularly check and maintain X-Ray equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and safely.
- Must be able to review images for clarity and quality. Knowing if they meet diagnostic standards before sending them to the physicians.
- Being able to maintain accurate patient records, documenting procedures performed and any relevant patient information.
- Being able to implement safety measures to limit radiation exposure to patients and staff, including the use of PPE equipment and lead shields when necessary.
- Must be able to interpret the order for the test to determine what body parts need to be evaluated
- Inventorying and stocking films and radiologic supplies
- Assisting in the rooming and checking in process for the patients when needed.
- Assisting in support for the patients as needed.
Requirements
- Must have at least an associate or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology or a related field
- Must be certified by the (JRCERT) Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology
- Must be certified from the (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and as well as having the appropriate State of Illinois
- Must have an (IEMA) IEMA license
- Must have previous experience in a clinical setting of at least 1 to 2 years of a X-Ray or Radiology technician
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be technically proficient with a strong understanding of radiographic equipment and imaging techniques
- Must be able to lift/push/pull at least 40-75 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Pay: $ 32.00 – 52.00 an hour
